Calvinistic confusions - 1 - Mistaking faith for works

3:27 Where, then, is boasting? 41  It is excluded! By what principle? 42  Of works? No, but by the principle of faith! 3:28 For we consider that a person 43  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. Romans
One of the common misconception I have seen with calvinist people is they always claim faith as a work of man and say so man is working to get saved.
In Romans 3:27,28 Paul clearly teaches that faith is opposed to work.
He says , by the principle or law of faith , boasting , which occurs because of human effort is excluded.
"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." - Romans 10:17
Faith is generated as the Gospel is heard. People can accept it or reject it and the gospel along with it. Faith is not a work and salvation by faith in Jesus' finished work  is not a system of works. Faith is opposed to works and excludes all boasting and brings glory to God.
'Faith as Francis Schaeffer said is simply , " raising empty hands in accepting the gift" of God's grace. The raising of our hands is not work but merely our acceptance of God's provision.'  - Ronald Mayers , Balanced Apologetics.
